‘1883’ Star Officially Confirms Interest in Joining ‘Landman’ Season 3
Landman‘s core ensemble is expected to return in Season 3, but the full cast list hasn’t been publicly finalized. That leaves room for surprise announcements and reveals, and considering Taylor Sheridan’s knack for casting the same actors across his shows, bringing another familiar face to Landman isn’t far-fetched — and now one of his favorites has made a strong case for joining the project.
More than 20 stars have played multiple characters in the Sheridan universe, and it’s an impressive list of A-list and character actors. James Jordan holds the record with six appearances, in Wind River, Yellowstone, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown, Landman, and Lioness, and he’s more than willing to expand that list given the chance. His 1883 and Lioness costar, LaMonica Garrett, wants in on the gig, and he pitched why he would be a good fit for Landman in an interview with MovieWeb.

“I’m a blue-collar actor, and just these guys out there, they’re working with their hands. I’d much rather be in the sun. I’d much rather be doing something physical and active than sitting behind a desk with a suit on, saying a lot of words while you’re just sitting there. I’d much rather have a full-body experience than just say, you know, and there’s a world that exists, too. I’ve done that before. And just being outside in nature, it’s just something about it that you can’t explain. Once you experience it, it’s hard to go back.”
Garrett’s shared history with Sheridan goes back to Sons of Anarchy, where they both played Charming, California’s deputized law enforcers. They never met on the show, however, because Sheridan’s character was killed off before Garrett joined the cast in Season 4.
They first spoke in 2021 on Garrett’s birthday, shortly after he sent his audition tape in a bid to play Thomas in the Yellowstone prequel. They finally met during Sheridan’s “Cowboy Camp,” a rigorous training stretch that taught actors how to live like authentic 19th-century frontiersmen. They hit it off and had since nurtured mutual respect, and shortly after 1883 ended, Garrett joined Sheridan’s short list for Special Ops: Lioness.
